WSP is currently initiating a search for a Generation Electrical Engineering Area Lead to join our Power & Energy team in Houston, TX. The Area Lead (AL) is responsible for oversight of the Generation Electrical staff in the Houston, TX office. This individual will manage a team of Engineers in addition to acting as the responsible lead or project engineer for projects. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power Generation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
- Lead and/or support electrical engineers and designers on design of power generation projects
- Lead and/or support electrical engineers and designers on power plant and switchyard electrical system upgrades
- Lead project proposal and budget development
- Manage all financial and technical aspects of performance for the team
- Day-to-day oversight of a team of engineers including personnel reviews and goal development.
- Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for smaller and less-complex projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Involved from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects.
- Lead, oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, scientific, and construction professionals to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, technical calculations, permit applications, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Owners engineering experience in generating facilities.
- Previous experience leading a group of engineers.
