Description

Cimarron is seeking a Flight Software Advanced Technology Specialist to design and develop a flight software foundation baseline for the StarLab program in Houston, TX.  The StarLab will be a low Earth orbit (LEO) space station that will serve as a business park for commercial space and space tourism activities!  This flight software role includes extensive knowledge and experience in developing flight software frameworks, middleware, and a variety of common support libraries utilized by all flight software applications.

Key Duties:

  • Develop a core flight software framework while incorporating extensible features such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) hooks, upgrade mechanisms, and interfaces for future needs.
  • Serve as a significant contributor to programmatic flight software reviews, mentoring, and pipeline integration to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Support flight software certification activities surrounding the flight software infrastructure.
  • Present flight software technical topics to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply robust systems engineering fundamentals to ensure the flight software infrastructure meets stakeholder needs.
  • Perform software engineering "hands-on" tasks as dictated by resource and schedule needs, including artifact and code reviews, gathering requirements, documenting software design, software implementation, documentation, anomaly resolution, preparing and presenting certification artifacts, and process and standards development.
  • Support flight software infrastructure integration, verification, and validation within the System Integration Lab (SIL).
  • Contribute to resource planning, schedule development, and schedule metrics of software schedules.
  • Identify risks, provide risk mitigation strategies, and review impacts to schedules and budgets.


Requirements

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. 
  • 10 or more years of software engineering experience in a human-rated, regulated field.
  • 25 or more years of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Passion for optimizing the systems engineering approach to simultaneously improve efficiency and quality
  • Ability to integrate across a wide range of technical disciplines.
  • Embrace and demonstrate the 5 C's of Systems Engineering: Communicate, Collaborate, Cooperate, Coordinate, and Commit.
  • Ability to work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative, novel, and ingenious.
  • Bachelor's degree.
