Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Financial and Admin Support Analyst will provide essential support to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) by performing a combination of financial analysis, reporting, and administrative duties. This role involves assisting with financial data management, report generation, and day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure smooth financial operations. This role supports Senior Management on Treasury matters, including management of users and functions, bank and investment account management, and overall investments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Analyzes financial data to identify key trends, variances, and insights that support decision-making.
  2. Assists with the preparation of financial reports, summaries, and presentations for management review.
  3. Maintains accurate financial records and ensures proper documentation of transactions.
  4. Supports the finance team with budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  5. Organizes financial documents, reports, and files for easy retrieval and compliance purposes.
  6. Monitors financial transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  7. Reviews all bank accounts, and cash flows, and monitors Treasury investments to best inform Senior Management.
  8. Provides administrative support to the finance department, including document management, scheduling meetings, coordinating communications, department activities, and conferences for all members of the department.
  9. Compiles and analyzes data for the renewal of insurance and track of claims to mitigate insurance premium increases.
  10. Collaborates with auditors and other stakeholders to provide necessary financial information.
  11. Prepares agendas and materials for CFO, schedules and coordinates meetings, and prepares minutes.
  12. Assists in tracking and processing CFO expenses and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  13. Drafts written responses and/or reply by phone, Teams, or email when necessary. Respond to regularly occurring requests for information.
  14. Collaborates with the finance team on special projects and ad hoc reporting as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial analysis
  • 1-3 years of experience with general ledger software 
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel at an intermediate to advanced level
  • Knowledge of GL, AR, and A/P processes
  • Knowledge of reconciliations, internal controls, and budgeting

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must regularly move about the office and around the facility, use hands, wrists, and fingers to grip, type, and write. The employee must frequently lift 20 pounds. The employee will need to have the average ability to hear horns, warnings, and alerts associated with a warehouse. The employee must occasionally travel to other sites for business. 


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an enclosed office environment, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, strong food-related smells, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the employee will be exposed to loud/elevated noises throughout the workday.

 

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

Travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis or within our 18-county service area). 


This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.g., times of disaster, community events, company events).
