Position Description


Position Overview:

Under general supervision, the Escrow Accountant will manage and ensure the accuracy of financial data compilation, analysis, and reporting, support audits, and maintain effective communication with management. Individuals in this role will be responsible for the Revenue Accounting department to ensure accurate general ledger accounting.The Escrow Accountant role is expected to have knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and the reconciliation process.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Data Compilation and Reporting: Ensures accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data on various forms, including state required forms and Auditor's Office disbursement forms.
  • Professional Development: Participates in cross-training with peers and undertakes special projects as assigned.
  • Audit Support: Provides support to management in response to audit requests from external and internal auditors.
  • Management Communication: Informs management of progress and issues, seeking assistance and guidance as needed, an escalating matters when necessary.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicates with the Revenue Accounting department to ensure the completeness and accuracy of general ledger accounting information.
  • Disaster Reimbursement Support: Research and prepares support documents for state reimbursement from disaster recovery and pandemic.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of working experience in accounting.
  • Experience in financial software and tools to manage escrow accounts.
  • Experience in advanced reporting and data analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and the reconciliation process.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial module or similar platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a self-directed work environment.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-time

  • Monday - Friday | 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

    • Occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required based on the specific needs and demands of the department.

Salary: 
  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 Pay Periods

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • This position is based in an office environment, where the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and filing cabinets is routine. 

  • The physical demands associated with this job are minimal, with occasional lifting and moving of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. The role is predominantly sedentary, involving mainly sitting with occasional standing and walking. 



Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
