Primary Purpose:

  • Supervise and direct Electrical department personnel and work schedules
  • Train new personnel on district policies
  • Maintain logs and records pertaining to department needs

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language
  • Must have clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements
  • Work at various heights

SALARY/PAY GRADE

$32.82/HV-13

Salary as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                      

261 days 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Minimum 8 years experience in the trade
  • Extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances and all types of Electrical systems
  • Write, comprehend and edit specifications and prints for new construction and modifications to all types of Electrical systems
  • Current City of Houston Journeyman Electrical license required, City of Houston Master license preferred 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all duties of an Electrical Lead, Electrician I, II, III and IV
  • Direct and supervise all phases of building Electrical repairs and modifications
  • Approve parts and material orders for department
  • Make recommendations concerning hiring, advancement, discipline and discharge of employees
  • Conduct follow up inspections of completed work
  • Coordinate repairs or renovations by outside contractors
  • Take necessary action to immediately report and correct any condition that may cause injury or illness to students or staff
  • Monitor departmental purchases
  • Review specifications and prints for new construction
  • Determine supplies and equipment needed for jobs
  • Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions for all Electrician positions:

  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Be available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks.
  • Be available for after hour demands, subject to 24 hour responsibility.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
