Internship Overview

Powell’s 10-week paid internship program offers college students hands-on experience, professional training, and the opportunity to make an impact through a meaningful project aligned with your field of study. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you’ll gain valuable skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Project Focus

  • Intern Project: Understanding Powell LV Switchgear applications while learning the engineering processes for Powell Industries
  • Expected Deliverables:
  • Review/release As-Built Drawings: Comments/Mark-ups on As-Built Switchgear drawings
  • Read/review customer Specifications and dwg’s, upload project clarifications to SharePoint and participate in Project Kick off meetings
  • Develop Elevation/Single line/three line/Scematic/Door dwg’s 
  • Develop Switchgear Specification doc through use of the Powell Specification program
  • Input/release materials for purchasing in Powell Systems
  • Take frequent shop tours to understand the products
  • Give Presentation on what was learned during 10-week program.
  • How does this project benefit Powell or your functional area?
  • Future hire that will be able to step in and make contribution within the first 3 months of hiring date.
  • By having new individuals go through and be trained on Powell’s systems, it allows Powell’s process to be reviewed and shown where improvements can be made.
  • Desired Major: BSEE

Who We’re Looking For

  • We seek motivated, curious, and driven students with the following qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Rising Junior or Senior continuing studies in Fall 2027.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA and strong academic standing.
  • Team player with strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with a dependable, can-do attitude.
  • Bonus Skills: Experience with CAD or switchgear.
