Internship Overview
Powell’s 10-week paid internship program offers college students hands-on experience, professional training, and the opportunity to make an impact through a meaningful project aligned with your field of study. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you’ll gain valuable skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Project Focus
- Intern Project: Understanding Powell LV Switchgear applications while learning the engineering processes for Powell Industries
- Expected Deliverables:
- Review/release As-Built Drawings: Comments/Mark-ups on As-Built Switchgear drawings
- Read/review customer Specifications and dwg’s, upload project clarifications to SharePoint and participate in Project Kick off meetings
- Develop Elevation/Single line/three line/Scematic/Door dwg’s
- Develop Switchgear Specification doc through use of the Powell Specification program
- Input/release materials for purchasing in Powell Systems
- Take frequent shop tours to understand the products
- Give Presentation on what was learned during 10-week program.
- How does this project benefit Powell or your functional area?
- Future hire that will be able to step in and make contribution within the first 3 months of hiring date.
- By having new individuals go through and be trained on Powell’s systems, it allows Powell’s process to be reviewed and shown where improvements can be made.

Who We’re Looking For
- We seek motivated, curious, and driven students with the following qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Rising Junior or Senior continuing studies in Fall 2027.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA and strong academic standing.
- Team player with strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter with a dependable, can-do attitude.
- Bonus Skills: Experience with CAD or switchgear.
