As a Drafter/Designer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of our drawings and documentation. You will use this hands-on experience to create and update drawings for assembly, welding, machining, electrical, and retrofit/rework projects using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. You will work closely with operations personnel, engineers, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update documentation, including drawings and bills of materials (BOMs), in accordance with industry and departmental standards.
- Advocate for safety and quality in all documentation, ensuring products meet stringent industry standards.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to improve producibility, reduce costs, and enhance product quality, then successfully translate those improvements into drawing updates.
- Communicate engineering design changes and updates with all internal stakeholders.
- Document all drawing changes in an Engineering Notice.
- Perform dimensional and tolerance calculations.
- Maintain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE), and industry quality standards.
- Support QA/QC teams with audits and process development.
- Attend safety training and wear required safety equipment as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- One of the following:
- Associate degree in Drafting Technology, two years of vocational training, or equivalent.
- Five years of relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Ability to report in person to the work location in Houston Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of hands-on experience in a production environment.
- Proficiency in Teamcenter and JD Edwards.
- Experience with ASME Y14.5 GD&T, engineering drawings, or wiring diagrams.
- Experience in assembly, welding, machining, or powder coating.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to suggest, adapt to, and implement changes in a fast-paced environment.
