The Instruction Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating e-learning, web-based, classroom-based (live & virtual), case studies, structured on-the-job training, blended learning, and social learning technologies and solutions for the marine ship and offshore industry. Will work closely with technical and multimedia staff to produce interactive learning deliverables.
What You Will Do:
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team to design and develop highly professional and engaging training projects and communications according to the project scope.
Design diverse and compelling learning solutions using instructional design processes, theory and best practices, such as ISD, ADDIE, 6D, SAT.
Develop learning solutions in accordance with the department’s responsibilities matrix (RACI).
Act as project manager for assigned learning deliverables. Maintain project schedules, meeting minutes and action plans.
Lead training needs analyses and architect sessions to determine learning requirements and desired outcomes.
Working closely with Content Managers, conduct content research, gleaning information from technical, soft skill and business documentation with Engineering and Survey personnel or other SME resources.
Observe and validate training during pilot and post-production sessions.
Develop and conduct lesson, course and program assessments and evaluation tools.
Working with content managers, implement recommended changes to curricula based upon ABS personnel and client feedback.
Build relationships with consultants and external vendors to attain objectives and ensure the timely and cost-efficient delivery of outsourced learning development.
Perform design and development duties with minimal coaching and supervision.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
Minimum of five years of experience as an instructional designer producing learning solutions that accommodate a variety of delivery modes and methods in a professional, business environment.
Two years of media content development experience in Articulate Storyline, expert skill levels required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Demonstrates flexibility and critical thinking skills when managing changes in scope, implementation, timelines, and priority of a project.
Demonstrate strong skill set for design documentation, sequencing content and determining appropriate learning strategies.
Effective facilitation skills. Should be able to facilitate group discussions.
Action orientated. Should be able to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes.
Excellent writing skills and use of creative message design principles (i.e., use of language, grammar, spelling, and organizing content) to achieve desired outcomes.
Knowledge of creating, designing and editing graphics and media content with tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Flasha plus.
Excellent client service skills with upbeat attitude.
Ability to obtain working knowledge with the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems.
It Would Be Nice If You Have:
Seven years of experience preferred
Experience working in a production team environment preferred.
Marine engineering or oil and gas background a plus.
