Designer Assistant – Houston, TX (Furniture Industry)
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Designer Assistant to support our design team in developing and executing creative furniture projects. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in AutoCAD and SketchUp/Revit, excellent organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll play a key role in translating design concepts into drawings, models, and client-ready presentations, ensuring smooth progress from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist designers with drafting, 3D modeling, and rendering in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and/or Revit.
• Prepare design documentation, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings.
• Support the creation of presentations, mood boards, and client deliverables.
• Conduct site surveys, gather field measurements, and update design documents.
• Maintain project files, drawing sets, and material libraries.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to obtain samples, product info, and specifications.
• Provide administrative and design support to ensure workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
• Must be currently residing in Houston, Texas (on-site work required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp/Revit (required).
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is a plus.
• Strong grasp of design principles, drafting standards, and spatial planning.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, team-focused attitude.
