Job Description

Deliver Comprehensive Dental Care in a Collaborative International Healthcare Environment

International SOS Government Medical Services is seeking an experienced Dentist to provide high-quality dental care for U.S. government personnel and affiliated patients in Baghdad, Iraq. This role offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive dentistry in a mission-driven healthcare setting while working alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams focused on patient safety, readiness, and continuity of care.

Position Overview

The Dentist provides preventive, restorative, and emergency dental services for adult patient populations in a fast-paced clinical environment. This position is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of dental conditions while promoting oral health education and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive dental examinations, assessments, and treatment planning for adult patients
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of dental conditions, injuries, and oral health concerns
  • Perform general dental procedures, including emergency dental treatment such as extractions, temporary restorations, crown recementation, and root canal services
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and long-term dental health management
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation within EMR systems
  • Collaborate with dental assistants, clinical staff, and operational teams to support coordinated patient care
  • Follow established infection prevention, safety, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Participate in required compliance education, training activities, and healthcare quality initiatives

Qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an ADA- or CODA-accredited institution or equivalent accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Current unrestricted license to practice dentistry in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
  • Successful completion of the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of general dentistry experience, including at least 6 months of clinical practice within the last year
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to meet credentialing, background screening, medical clearance, and compliance requirements, including eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government MRPT clearance
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident with a valid U.S. passport and ability to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the assignment
  • Ability to meet pre-deployment medical requirements and perform duties requiring prolonged standing, sitting, bending, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting military, government, or contractor healthcare environments
  • International or OCONUS clinical experience
  • Experience providing emergency or urgent dental care in operational healthcare settings
  • Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education skills
