ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer, support, and maintain SQL Server instances (on-prem and/or cloud-hosted), ensuring high availability and performance.
- Proactively monitor systems for performance, reliability, and capacity planning using SQL-native and third-party tools.
- Design and implement database solutions, including schema design, stored procedures, functions, indexing, and data archiving strategies.
- Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery and backup procedures in line with OSII standards.
- Apply patches and service packs and perform version upgrades with minimal impact to business operations.
- Collaborate with application teams to optimize database performance and query tuning.
- Ensure database security by managing roles, permissions, and compliance with regulatory requirements such as SOX.
- Maintain documentation for processes, configurations, and best practices.
- Participate in cross-functional IT projects, providing database expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Follow rigorous change control and incident response procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA in a mid-to-large enterprise environment.
- Microsoft SQL Server certification (MCDBA/MCSA/MCSE or equivalent) preferred.
- ITIL Foundations or Project Management certification is a plus.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proficient in SQL Server 2016 and newer, including SSMS, SSIS, and SQL Agent job management.
- Skilled in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) technologies such as Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and log shipping.
- Strong T-SQL scripting and performance tuning capabilities.
- Familiar with data modeling tools and best practices.
- Experience with Azure SQL, PowerShell scripting, and automation tools a plus.
- Understanding of ITIL processes and enterprise change control procedures.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications in manufacturing, ERP, or similar domains preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional after-hours work to support maintenance windows and project deadlines.
- Minimal travel required.
- Ability to sit for extended periods; occasional walking, bending, and lifting of equipment (up to 40 lbs).
