JOB TITLE: Clerk-Police Technology
REPORTS TO: Police Sergeant

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Clerk, Police Technology position is to provide administrative and technical support to the Spring ISD Police Department by assisting with the coordination and upkeep of various technology systems and tools. This role supports department operations by maintaining hardware inventories, updating records, assisting with data requests, and performing basic troubleshooting for equipment and software used by staff. The clerk ensures accurate documentation, timely communication with department leadership, and coordination with vendors and IT for equipment servicing, helping to maintain the department’s day-to-day functionality and compliance with operational procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Class “C” Texas driver’s license or equivalent, reliable transportation, and th ability to be insured by the district to operate district-owned passenger cars and trucks.
- Must be able to pass a background check so as to be authorized access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) and data.
- Must have basic Microsoft Excel Proficiency to include, but not limited to, the ability to
- perform basic data entry and formatting, simple formula usage (e.g., SUM, AVERAGE,
- COUNT, basic chart creation, cell formatting, and basic functions with the ability to
- progress to an intermediate level of proficiency within six to 12 months with the
- assistance of in-house on-the-job training.
- Must have experience with relational databases (not necessarily the ones listed above) to include experience above the basic user level; this might include creating andmanaging user accounts, running reports, exporting and importing data, and minor troubleshooting prior to escalation to a higher level.
Preferred
- One year job related experience
- An associate’s degree (AA) in computer science or a related field; or comparable
- technical certification from a reputable institution
- Experience in one or more of the types of software listed under required.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel Proficiency to include, but not limited to, the ability to successfully used advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP, sort and filter data, perform data sanitization, create and manipulate pivot tables and charts, author basic macros,and perform conditional formatting.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Provides general administrative support to the department including the office of the
- chief of police
- Communicates issues to the Mission Support corporal, PSEM division sergeant, division
- lieutenant, and chief of police as necessary and in a timely manner; keeps leadership
- informed of activities, workload, and anticipated completion/non-completion of relevant
- tasks
- Responsible for satisfying routine data needs and fulfilling periodic data requests by
- utilizing databases such as ARMS and Aeries (through the OnDataSuite portal).
- Responsible for coordinating routine updates and maintenance of the Automated
- Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) machine located in the prisoner processing
- center.
- Responsible for maintaining the department computer hardware inventory to include
- laptop and desktop machines, responding to department-level service requests (for
- example, for the replacement of equipment), and performing minor troubleshooting prior
- to escalating issues to IT.
- Responsible for maintaining the department Motorola-Watchguard body worn camera
- hardware inventory, responding to department-level service requests, performing minor
- troubleshooting prior to escalation of issues to the vendor, and coordinating replacement
- and exchange of malfunctioning equipment with the vendor.
- Responsible for monitoring the health of the department RCN-Cradlepoint-Verizon motor
- vehicle internet routers. Responds to department-level service requests, performs minor
- troubleshooting, and coordinates repair of malfunctioning equipment and/or restoration
- of service with the vendors.
- Maintains the department webpage through use of Thrillshare webpage management
- cloud-based software.
- Assists with the maintenance of the department Vector Scheduling schedule software.
- This includes, but is not limited to restoring accidental maladjustments to the schedule
- by supervisory users, establishing schedules for school years and special periods, and
- establishing special assignments in the schedule.
- Maintains a working knowledge of and serves as a resource for the department’s
- Tracwire FTO software, the district’s Samsara GPS vehicle tracking cloud-based
- software, TalentEd hiring cloud-based software, and Schoology learning management
- cloud-based software.
- Maintains and routinely updates the department’s manpower (staffing) list and ensures
- compliance with the addition and removal of employees to the Department of Public
- Safety FACT Clearinghouse “rap-back” could-based software.
- Maintains department information collection forms to include, but not limited to, the
- School Safety Incident Report (SSIR) and SRP Drill After Action Report (AAR).
- Maintains a working knowledge of other department-used cloud-based software to
- include, but not limited to TCLEDDS, Track-kit, JWEB, and TLO.
- Other duties as assigned
