Job Description

Lead high-quality patient care while supporting nursing teams in a collaborative acute care environment. As a Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in coordinating daily clinical operations, mentoring nursing staff, and ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care.

Position Overview

The Charge Nurse oversees nursing operations within the patient care unit, supporting clinical workflows, patient outcomes, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This role combines hands-on clinical leadership with team coordination, staffing oversight, patient assessment, and quality-focused nursing care in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing teams, the Charge Nurse helps maintain high clinical standards while fostering a supportive and patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily nursing operations to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care delivery
  • Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff while promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional development
  • Assess patient care needs, prioritize resources, and support staffing coordination to optimize patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Monitor patient conditions, respond to clinical changes, and ensure timely communication across the care team
  • Maintain compliance with nursing standards, clinical protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies
  • Support patient documentation, staffing schedules, chart reviews, and nursing workflow coordination
  • Foster clear communication with patients, families, and clinical staff to maintain a collaborative care environment

Qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia required
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, including at least 6 months within the past year
  • Bachelor’s or Master of Science in Nursing from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
  • Experience in acute care, emergency nursing, medical-surgical nursing, or charge nurse leadership roles preferred
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to meet pre-deployment medical, credentialing, background screening, and security clearance requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card required, along with a valid U.S. passport with at least 18 months remaining before expiration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on a military installation or within a government-supported healthcare environment
  • Prior leadership or nursing supervision experience in fast-paced clinical settings
  • Experience supporting interdisciplinary care coordination and staffing operations
