Objective:
Bus Driver Responsibilities (Half Time/Daily): The Bus Driver is expected to drive safely along designated routes and obey traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations. The Bus Driver will pick up and drop off students at designated locations. Respectful communication with passengers and employers regarding delays or any issues along a route and assisting passengers with difficulty getting on or off the vehicle. This position would fulfill the daily responsibilities outlined in this job description.
Clerical Duties (Half Time/Daily): This position includes essential functions related to clerical duties.
Essential Functions - Bus Driver (Halftime/Daily)
- Adhere to District policies
- Provide long-range planning for the transportation department
- Bus Maintenance: Inspect the bus before departure to maintain high cleanliness
- Safety Maintenance: Adhere to safety and security standards
- Accurately complete the required paperwork
- Upon return, the bus is to be cleaned and swept
- Maintain an understanding of laws and rules of the transportation of students
- Maintain an understanding of safety practices and procedures applicable to the transport of students
- Practice safe driving habits
- Follow all state and national safety regulations and standards
- Accurately follow routes, maps, and directions
- Open vehicle doors and assist students
- Discipline students as needed to maintain a safe environment
- Keep the exterior and interior of the vehicle clean and presentable
- *Perform other duties as assigned or requires

Essential Functions - Clerical (Halftime/Daily)
- Maintain student ridership records
- Maintain bus maintenance records
- Transportation data input
- Contact students’ parents
- Receive parent’s phone calls (i.e., complaints, requests, concerns, etc.)
- Take messages on behalf of the Senior Manager (Department Head) to coordinate.
- Input requisitions (Ascender Date for Invoices).
- Coordinate miscellaneous clerical paperwork

Required Qualifications and Skills: Bus driver
- Commercial driver’s
- Three years’ successful experience in the transportation field is
- Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five
- Strong history of long-term work establishing
- Two or more years of experience working with
- Ability to carry out assigned routes on
- Attention to detail
Required Education, Certification, and Experience
- Required: High school diploma or GED
- Required: An active commercial driver’s license (CDL) (verified annually).
- Required: Valid insurance coverage (verified annually).
- Preferred: Bilingual
