JOB TITLE: At-Risk Credit Recovery Teacher-SCE

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The At-Risk Credit Recovery teacher, who reports to the District RtI Coordinator, will help and support students by increasing their academic achievement in their efforts to gain credits. The At-Risk Credit Recovery teacher will also provide students with a comprehensive, coordinated, integrated, and customized program in the credit recovery lab that is accessible, timely, and standards-based. By doing so, the At-Risk Credit Recovery teacher will reduce the drop-out rate and increase graduation rates of “at risk” students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject
and level assigned
• One-year job related experience
Preferred:
• Three years of classroom experience
• Experience using the Edgenuity program
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Thorough understanding of state and federal accountability
• Comprehensive knowledge of state assessments
• Knowledge of the district’s curriculum
• Knowledge of the district’s credit recovery system (Edgenuity)
• Detail oriented and able to handle deadline pressures
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Quality oral presentations and written reports
MAJOR REPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Teach seven sections of in-school credit recovery classes (currently utilizing Edgenuity)
• Manage Grade Repair by setting up students in the designated course(s), unlocking assessments within the program (Edgenuity), and notifying counselors and registrars of satisfactory Grade Repair course completion
• Develop individual student goals
• Monitor the students’ course/goal progress to ensure continuous growth and achievement
• Conduct progress conferences with students
• Support and supplement students’ online learning
• Identify and coordinate additional academic resources for students in the credit recovery program
• Develop, write, and update Student Success Plans
• Ensure Student Success Plans are provided to all identified credit recovery students
• Collaborate and provide regular updates to counselors, teachers, campus interventionists, Student Support Specialists, Student Success Specialists, and administrators to address the needs of students in the program
• Participate and serve as a program liaison with the Collaborative Student Support Team (CSS Team) as needed
• Coordinate the in-school credit recovery program’s activities and functions
• Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians regarding student progress
• Manage program (Edgenuity) data management system and engage in program data analysis
• Document all required interactions and data for At-Risk coding compliance and program evaluation
• Engage in Professional Learning Community (PLC) collaborative sessions and additional trainings with other credit recovery teachers order to better use the credit recovery system and ensure the students’ academic success
• Oversee all administrative paperwork and referrals for the in school credit recovery program
• Produce and analyze (Edgenuity) program reports to submit to the District RtI Coordinator
• Handle all confidential matters appropriately
• All other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and state wide. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
