Job Description Summary

GE Vernova is looking for highly motivated individuals to join the Aero Equipment ITR engineering team. GE Vernova Gas Power is a growing and exciting business encompassing all Aero Derivatives Gas Turbines and Power Plants enabling renewable penetration through grid firming, decarbonizing and electrifying the world.

The Aero Equipment ITR Senior Mechanical Engineer will be part of a team tasked to deliver wing-to-wing customer solutions for Aeroderivative Gas Turbine Generator Equipment projects, from competitive proposal to execution of solutions. This individual will be part of a team that will execute with safety, quality, speed, on-time delivery, and at cost

This role requires a solid technical foundation on engine, package, and systems integration, as well as commercial acumen and customer facing experience. Starting with design verification and validation of the gas turbine generator package, this individual defines detailed work scope to meet or exceed contractual requirements, makes system level trades and handles ITR engineering change management process.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects for Application & Project Engineering team in the execution of wing-to-wing customer solutions for Equipment projects, from competitive proposal to execution of solutions. This includes technical guidance to manufacturing, sourcing, project management, and external customers
  • Execute OTR project engineering by working with Houston and Hungary teams to develop expert technical solutions for project specific request and Customizations (CGERs) execution.
  • Work with Configuration team to create Bill of Material (BOM) from product Features and Options (VCC), perform accuracy review and provide approvals.
  • Work with Product Definition team to develop the Customer drawings package for assigned projects incorporating all Customer requested customization.
  • Work with document control to review initial build book and build plan for manufacturing, prepare ECO markups to update BOMs as needed to support manufacturing process.
  • Prepare and process technical specification for suppliers of sub-assemblies and major components, review and approve release of supplier drawings to ensure compliance with project CTQs.
  • Provide product clarification and answers to customer’s questions, work with installation and commissioning team to resolve site issues.
  • Work with Project Managers and Project Leads to prepare customer meeting presentations and actively participate in customer kick-off meetings and customer discussions related to project execution.
  • Lead & deliver design Toll gate reviews with the Chief engineers on project NPI designs
  • Review design and risk mitigation needs with technical fulfillment leaders /chief engineers and communicate modifications to manufacturing and sourcing team.
  • Prepare & Present project technical design reviews to managers and technical leaders, identify IP & Position paper ideas and record IDLs.
  • Work with compliance team to execute T&RS compliance items and ensure full package compliance to local codes and regulations in different regions.
  • Identify and execute project savings and utilization of available parts (SMI) opportunities to meet business cost saving goals.
  • Work with Part COE team to create new parts, as necessary to complete project BOMs.
  • CGER Technical Execution (Drawing Redlines to Standards, Parts Creation, specification, etc.)
  • Project Meeting Attendance and provide technical support for: Engineering Release, HOM, CKOM, PSE Handover, Customer Meeting etc.
  • Work with shop and testing team to resolve project related issues during manufacturing and testing phase.
  • Knowledgeable on configuration trades and studies.
  • Collaborates with manufacturing engineering focal to reduce COQ.
  • Provides timely communication and recommendations on significant issues or developments to senior leadership teams.
  • Responsible for developing Standard Work Instructions for ITR processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience related to bills of materials, manufacturing, drawing creation, drawing change management, mechanical engineering, and product design.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of Gas Turbine related work experience with strong understanding of gas turbines-based packages including auxiliary systems and balance of plant equipment.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of focused customer service and fulfillment experience.

  • Proven expertise in the following areas: Gas Turbine & Power augmentation, Gas Turbine Installation and Foundations, Fuel systems design, Hydraulic systems design, Lube oil systems, and TR&S compliance, codes & standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a minimum of eight (8) years of exposure to power generation equipment manufacturing or packaging.

  • Energizer who acts autonomously & engages others to make the impossible possible in times of huge change & opportunity.
  • Practical knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, and problem-solving techniques
