Description

Learning & Development Activities

  • Participate in training as required - covering XL Systems products, industry knowledge, and sales processes.
  • Develop, document, and complete personal goals as agreed with Regional Sales Manager.
  • Maintain high level of product and manufacturing knowledge, discuss training with regional sales manager. 
  • Learn to use CRM, ERP, and supplier portal systems effectively.

Support Responsibilities

  • Act as main point of contact for customer enquiries, evaluating the customer’s technical and operational requirements, and reviewing tenders and quotations produced by the team meet the customers’ requirements. 
  • Effectively qualify opportunities, offering the customer insight into processes and timings in line with the internal/external needs
  • Usher clients through entire process from close of quote to sale through order lifecycle including technical, logistics, delivery and post-delivery customer service; navigating production of ancillary equipment requirements
  • Ensure a high standard of planning is performed to guarantee timeliness, quality and delivery of products and services
  • Provide market data as directed by Regional Manager, detail is collated for trend/statistical analysis, inventory planning, yearly forecasting, and competitor monitoring.
  • Work with Technical Sales and engineering to ensure XL Systems is at the forefront of technical advancement
  • Complete operational and technical contract review and notify the involved departments of their input to orders and alerting the Regional Manager to any non-standard requirements that may impact the company.   
  • Generate regional sales and marketing strategy for assigned territory.
  • Assist Inside Sales in reaching successful conclusion to concessions to QA issues
  • Tight management of customer account pipeline to ensure accurate revenue forecasting. 
  • Develop, maintain key relationships with regional OCTG and other third-party stakeholders 
  • Identify competitor gaps/problems/failures and maximize XL Systems’ opportunity to capitalize by providing options and solutions 
  • Collate and create detailed opportunity pipeline for all assigned accounts and maximize XL Systems opportunity to capitalize by providing options and solutions 
  • Maintain high level of customer calls to promote company, products, and self to keep customer activity detail updated and correct
  • Develop customer presentations to ensure professional customer and product image 
  • Keep customer abreast of new technology either on the market or required to maximize an opportunity
  • Help track customer activity, document meeting outcomes, and update account information in CRM.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining sales presentations, product literature, and marketing materials.

Progressive Responsibilities (as skills develop)

  • Conduct customer check-in calls and visits with supervision.
  • Participate in the development of basic account strategies for assigned low-risk or dormant accounts.
  • Begin negotiating terms for smaller transactions under guidance.
  • Gather and report market information to assist in pricing strategy and competitor monitoring.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years in related oil/gas industry with established Contacts, 5 years preferred
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint and Excel skills) and Outlook
  • Proven attention to detail, accuracy, analytical skills, and excellent numeric skills.
  • Demonstrate proactive attitude, time sensitivity, be self-motivated, enthusiastic, personable, and able to work with minimum supervision.

  • Due to the nature of the industry, 24-hour contact is required. Cellular phones are provided for this purpose. 
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours i.e. weekends, nights, etc. 
  • Strong understand of North American market for offshore oil and gas and the economic environment with which we compete. 
  • Enhanced communication and negotiation skills to enable constructive dialogue and the development of close relationships with fellow employees, customers, and internal functional departments at all levels. 
  • Must be able to build rapport with colleagues, clients, and management, and maintain high level of trust and respect through actions.
  • Hunt for and qualify accounts, projects and stakeholders
  • Report Sales and Marketing expenditure monthly 
  • Sound knowledge of credit, and customer AP to support collection/reconciliation of account past due invoices
  • Responsible for promoting a safe working environment in accordance with NOV HSE procedures.
    Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Travel as necessary

Experience: 

Desirable 

  • Have or develop a good understanding of the Global Market for oil and gas and the economic environment within which we compete. 
  • Surface casing and conductor Connection Systems  
  • Oil Country Tubular Goods 
  • Relevant degree and/or have equivalent Sales and Marketing oil and gas knowledge.   
  • Working knowledge of large OD conductor / casing or OCTG is desirable, preferably in a Sales or marketing environment.
